Encompassing over 3,000 acres, including the Big Mountain backdrop of the city, Whitefish Mountain Resort is one of the top ski resorts in Montana and a year-round adventure destination.

There are so many great day hikes in Glacier (there are over 700 miles of trails!) and this is a great trail to start with. It is very popular and the trail itself is wide and well marked so you won’t get lost. It is also short so gives you a chance to warm yourself up for a couple longer hikes.

The nature center features interactive activities for kids: children can feel a grizzly bear’s fur, listen and identify birds by their “songs” or create their own puppet show. Educational displays detail plants found in the park and teach about the habitats of the vast array of wildlife. Ranger-led talks and other programs are held in the outdoor seating area.

Lake McDonald, the largest lake in the park, is the major hub of activity on the west side. Carved out by massive glaciers thousands of years ago, the valley is home to the rustic Lake McDonald Lodge – one of the park’s most popular accommodations – and several historic chalets.

The Conrad Mansion Museum is located in Kalispell’s east side residential area atop a bluff overlooking the valley and the Swan mountain range. The home sits on three landscaped acres, surrounded by a dry stone fence with iron gates.

At the Desoto Grill in the wilderness-surrounded town of Kalispell, Montana, the specialty is “Montana Barbecue.” Housed within a quirky former blacksmith shop that dates back to the year 1910, the barbecue restaurant offers made-from-scratch sauces, rubs, sides, and desserts. The unique local Montana dining establishment invites people of all ages to “step out of the ordinary” and into its “funky Forge building” to experience their “custom deluxe barbecue.”

Several raft companies operate commercially guided raft trips on the Middle Fork and North Fork of the Flathead River. Both forks are within the Flathead Wild and Scenic River designation and are jointly managed by Glacier National Park and the Flathead National Forest. These raft companies have permits from the US Forest Service

Check Montana fly fishing off your bucket list with a Full Day Glacier National Park Trip. You’ll fish on either the Middle Fork or North Fork of the Flathead River, which form Glacier National Park’s southwestern border. Guides are very knowledgeable. If you don’t have much experience they are happy to teach you. These trips last all day and include a delicious, largely locally sourced and organic lunch on the river. The North and Middle Forks of the Flathead River typically become fishable around the end of June and remain enjoyable into autumn. Bring your own gear or use your guide’s.

Basically, any kind of riding you want, it’s around here. There are some seriously dedicated people around here who keep expanding the off-road trails, and there are great road routes in basically every direction.

Under The Big Sky celebrates the tradition of gathering friends and family together under open skies to listen to music. The festival explores the breadth and legacy of Americana, taking in both traditional and contemporary takes on our country’s rich musical traditions, across two stages in naturally formed amphitheaters on the ranch.

Artists from across the country are represented in the Whitefish Arts Festival. Metal sculptures, paintings and photography, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and home decorations are just some of the featured fine arts. There is always a variety of Montana style art available. All of the art is handmade.

The legendary Isle of Wight Festival returns to Seaclose Park in Newport on the beautiful Isle of Wight from 17-20 June 2021 – kicking off the British festival season for the summer.

On this 5 day Summer Photography Workshop you will immerse yourself in some of the Rocky Mountains most scenic locations. With any luck we will also be able to photograph some of the the famous wildlife in Glacier National Park! You will be guided you to some of the most beautiful spots in the park including some off the beaten path, and provided with expert instruction on how best to capture the light and interesting compositions. The goal of the workshop is to give you the ability to explore, learn, and fine tune your photography skills both in the field as well in post processing development to bring your images to life.

You will have the opportunity to taste local and regional beers, wines, and hard ciders. Local food vendors will also be on hand offering a variety of culinary delights while local musicians, Mike Murray Duo and Luke Dowler & the Midnight Conversations, entertain throughout the event. The Great Bear Festival will have something for everyone.
