Pottery for Beginners

This workshop is all about embracing the joy of clay! I love working with beginners and creating an atmosphere where they can feel at ease while exploring their creativity. I feel it’s my responsibility as their first pottery teacher to make sure they have a good time because when they’re having fun, they’re much more likely to continue their journey with pottery.

Beginners often come to experience the fun of pottery-making rather than focusing on creating perfect pieces. With hands-on techniques and a lighthearted approach, my goal is to ensure everyone enjoys the experience, learns the basics, and leaves with a smile and a desire to return. This workshop can serve as an excellent introduction to your studio, encouraging participants to sign up for future classes.

Throwing Larger Pieces

Ready to up your throwing game? This workshop is designed for those eager to tackle larger pieces. While I can throw up to 80 lbs, I find that 25 lbs is the sweet spot for students to comfortably learn how to work with more clay. Each student is receives one-on-one coaching by me, ensuring that they progress to whatever level they are working on.

I pay close attention to each individual’s needs and goals, making sure they feel recognized and supported throughout the process. What may be a lot of clay for one student isn’t much for someone else. A person who normally throws 3 lbs can feel like they’ve had a breakthrough by successfully throwing 5 lbs, whereas another student may be challenging themselves to throw 25 lbs or more. By offering this workshop, you can provide an exciting opportunity for your students to expand their skills, helping to foster a community of enthusiastic potters eager to take on new challenges.

Fountain-Making Workshop

I’m excited to share my fountain-making workshop, where students can create their own functional fountains! I’ll provide all the necessary supplies, including pumps, fittings, and tubing. Participants can bring items from home—such as a ceramic or terracotta pot, a glass bowl, or an old watering can—and I’ll help transform them into unique fountains. I encourage everyone to get creative and resourceful with their materials. While I can’t guarantee every fountain will be perfect, I promise everyone will have fun and learn a lot. This class can also be combined with my other pottery workshops for an even richer experience! By hosting this workshop, your studio can stand out by offering a niche class that appeals to a broader audience. For inspiration, check out my store here to see the fountains I create!
